A while ago, we filmed a video where we showed how to make a hook at home only using a glass or a cup, straws, foil, and charcoals with tobacco. Today we will go over the detailed instructions on how to best achieve the best result for you homemade hookah.

Ingredients that you would need:

 • A cup or a glass

 • About 4 straws

 • Foil

 • Cutting knife

 • Grapefruit, orange, or apple

 • Toothpicks

 • Charcoals and tobacco

First things first, grab your fruit and cut about one third of the fruit from the top. Before you do that, I should point out, that you’ll have to make sure that the fruit that you are cutting fits tight on the glass and creates good seal. Once you’ve cut your fruit take out the insides of the fruit to create a place where your tobacco will reside. Make sure to pierce the middle of the fruit and put 3 straws. These straws would act as a stem of the hookah and part of the straws would be submerged in water to simulate the operation of a hookah. Once that is done, let’s put the toothpicks in the fruit to create a base for tobacco. After that, create a small hole that goes through the side of the fruit you will need this to run a straw through it to create a mouthpiece for you to take hits.

Once this is all done it is time for measuring and cutting the straws. Measure the straws so they submerge about 3cm down in the water. Cut them at that point. Now, with the whole stem and head part ready it is time t fit it on the glass. Pour some water in a cup and tightly seal the fruit on top of it. Fruits are not perfectly shaped all the time, we get it. So workaround would be to seal the spots, where air can escape, with a wet napkin piece. Alternatively try using oranges or grapefruits, those are usually work better fr this application.

Once your fruit is on top of your glass, put some tobacco inside fruit, fluff it, and wrap your fruit in foil. punch through some holes and staple the foil around the edges of the fruit. Our next step would be to cut the excess foil so the glass don’t overheat. You probably know that heat and glass don’t work good together in most cases. To prevent any injuries, please cut the excess foil.

Finally, to hold your charcoals in place, we will need to create some sort of wind breaker and wrap it around our fruit. This way all the heat would stay within the bowl and you won’t feel the heat right on your face.
